FollowUpThen is a fantastic, and fantastically simple to use, email reminder service that works with every email service provider. Busy now but want to follow up later? FollowUpThen.com has got you covered!
Okay, ladies and gents – – today I want to share a real gem that I’ve been using for quite some time now: FollowUpThen.com.
Here’s a scenario:
You’re at your computer, you’re busy, there are a hundred emails flooding your inbox. You can’t deal with all of them, and some are really important – but they don’t really need your action right now. You could flag or star the important emails for reading later – but we all know this usually just dooms the email to obscurity in the “Important Emails” folder. You look at one of the emails and you see it really doesn’t need a response for another three weeks. What do you do?
No opening up a reminder program, no filling out some calendar event – You simply smile and forward it to 3weeks@followupthen.com. Perfect – you can deal with it then, and focus on the now.
FollowUpThen’s free and easy service lets you send an email or a task to any time in the future @followupthen.com, and they’ll send it back right when you need it. You can set the email reminder to recurr every day, week, or year, and if you CC @followupthen.com, then whomever you address the email to directly will also get a FollowUpThen reminder. If you want to send someone an email and receive a follow up without bugging the person you’re sending it to, simply put the [time]@followupthen.com in the BCC field.
It’s that simple. Send any email to [time]@followupthen.com, and you’ll get it back with a reminder at that exact time.
FollowUpThen makes it simple, and lets you use a number of different time formats:

And it even lets you mark the followup as a Task. Unlike normal followups, tasks will followup every 24 hours until marked as complete (or cancelled). All you have to do to turn a normal followup into a task is add “-t” to the end of the followup time. For example, 1day-t@followupthen.com. Want to assign the task to someone else? Send the email to that person and CC FollowUpThen!
Example:
- To: Recipient
- Subject: Send minutes of meeting to the team
- CC: 5days-t@followupthen.com
Along with the original email that goes to the recipient, a task will be scheduled with FollowUpThen. The recipient will get a second email confirming the task and a link to mark the task as complete. In 5 days, if the recipient has not yet marked the task as complete, an email reminder will be sent to both you and the person you’ve assigned to the task, and then again every 24 hours until the task is completed.
And don’t worry – If you ever feel like you’re losing track of your scheduled reminders or tasks, just send an email to “pending@followupthen.com” and you’ll receive a list of all your pending reminders.
What’s the best part? You guessed it! FollowUpThen is FREE!
That’s right – FollowUpThen lets you send unlimited number of reminders for free. If you love FollowUpThen, but wish it could do more, FollowUpThen offers its premium services for $4.99 a month or $49 per year, which gives access to SMS reminders, allows you to add attachments to your follow-up emails, view your followup appointments in your calendar, and manage your follow ups directly through the FollowUpThen website, and additional design options.
