About.Me, a new tool for self-branding, is a free way to make an introduction to… yourself!

As the business world takes faster and longer strides into the future, it is also heading towards the technological age. Along with this progression and evolution, there is a budding burden upon the shoulders of the citizens of tomorrow. It is no longer optional for those who wish to succeed in business to choose whether or not to pay attention to the surrounding technological advances; but an absolute necessity.

It is now, more than ever, crucial that we utilize the internet and its infinitude of services.

Lucky for us, an abundance of these resources are not only brilliant, but also; free. A product which is a must for self-branding and marketing is the clever website About.me.

About.me enables users to set up, design, customize and even track a free “personal splash page” which you can point people to, as a way to have them learn more about…well, you!  It’s ridiculously user-friendly and fun in terms of setting up and personalization, my own page took literally thirty minutes from start to finish, with the bio being the hardest part.

I highly recommend making one for yourself and getting a nice full size picture to use as the background (something I’m working on), as it allows you to aggregate links to all types of social media, relevant websites and even personal blogs.

Overall, the name of the game is self-promotion. Now to some, that may sound quite vein, but the truth of the matter is that humans enjoy interacting with other people and About.me, makes this both cool and oddly, not self-centered.

So go ahead, create a universal image and a digital business card for the world to see and remember, and share yourself with us in the comments below.
