401k_plan_coffee_investing_5_26_2014

This past week I listened to a presentation for young professional (20s and 30s) from one of the largest asset management firms in the world. The objective, which is of course to educate the audience, is also meant to help the firm snatch up talent and future wealth management clientele while those prospects are still spring chickens. Although I found the information presented to be generally useful and relevant to the respective audience, I couldn’t help but take a devils-advocate view on —well— just about everything. I bit my tongue until they presented this one particular example regarding a 401k

Why wearing bright colors is at the top of my list for attaining and maintaining success in all areas of life.

I’m trying something new here. Whether you ‘like’ it or hate it will, in part, dictate where this leads (hint: if you like where this is going, like the post!).

Rather than speaking in general terms about things that I feel may improve YOUR life, I am going to get real and share with you some sure-fire things that have improved MY life. These are things that have brought me personal happiness, success and fulfillment in my business, life and soul. Mind you, I haven’t slept in nearing 48 hours and I’m typing this blog as I board a flight, so bear with me. Here goes nothing…

Technology in Israel: I spent a week in Israel meeting with leaders in tech. The result is a thoughtful view of a tiny country that few ever get to see.

If you’re wondering why I haven’t blogged in the last week or so, it’s because I was traveling (with a very tight schedule). Last week I had the pleasure and privilege of taking part in a delegation trip to Israel to meet with the country’s leaders in technology (startups, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, investors, incubators and more). The invitation was extended by the Israeli Consulate of NY and Israel’s Foreign Trade Ministry. The attendees, in addition to myself, were a handful of fellow U.S. bloggers. The trip’s objective was to immerse the delegation into technology in Israel, a tech and startup scene that’s been dubbed the ‘Startup Nation,’ which is also the title of a best-selling book on the very subject.

Is there a technology of love? What is love?

Simply put, I feel love is the way we share and receive with the people we care most deeply about. Interestingly, technology too deals with the way we share and receive (information specifically) amongst people.  So has technology changed our expression of love?  Is there a technology of love? Absolutely!

In much the same way that a seed all-inclusively contains the DNA of a tree (its branches, leaves and fruit), each of our intentions contain a ‘fruit,’ or end result as well.

Alternatively, no matter how sophisticated the DNA of a seed, if the environment that seed is planted in does not have a healthy ‘soil,’ there is no way for the seed to bear healthy fruit.

Intention is equally as important as environment.

Fox Business News (foxbusiness.com) feature (@FoxBusiness)

SheBytes and Madison Technology were featured today on the homepage of Fox Business News in an article titled: Cloud à la Carte: 6 Ways to Order Off the Cloud.  In the article, I address the misconception that cloud computing is a one-size-fits-all service that’s more aptly suited to Fortune 500s with big IT budgets as compared to smaller shops with limited means. There are a smorgasbord of cloud options for businesses of any size and budget who want to capitalize on cloud services in their own unique way. Cloud doesn’t refer to one large umbrella service, it can be sliced up into smaller pieces to fit any business.

A ‘how to’ become a biker girl story. I bought a Kawasaki Ninja beginners bike; how the trials of dating led me to it, and why this motorcycle woman inspires authenticity.

A Foreign Encounter

Last November I began dating a man; let’s call him ‘Don.’ Being quite the charmer, when Don offered me a motorcycle ride around Manhattan during our second date, I –a woman that had never desired to get on a bike—excitedly said, “ok!” Motorcycles had, up until that point, been pretty terrifying. But I guess oxytocin will make you do crazy things (more on that in another post), and so lo and behold, one Saturday in late November, I took a ride around Manhattan on the back of a Red Ducati. As it turned out, it was one of the most lyrical days of my life.
