Ever heard of a shape-shifting battery? We’ve all been in a situation where we desperately needed a battery…We rummage through the cabinets and find batteries of numerous sizes but the one we need is never there.
Well a new shape shifting battery design promises to solve this problem for good!
Now although I’m staunchly aware of the fact that having any sort of specified or advanced knowledge of Greek and Roman mythology isn’t the coolest thing in the world, I know a bunch about it for a really valid reason:
In freshman year of college, I got bumped out of my desired class two days into the semester (!) and decided to take a class on the gods of Greek and Roman mythology (which did end up being my favorite class of the semester).
That being said, this shape shifting battery really reminded me of all I learned in Ovid’s Metamorphoses and about the Odyssey’s character Proteus; mythological beings that specialized in different types of “shape-shifting”.
Even though this battery won’t metamorphose by itself, the battery’s design is ingenious!
By harnessing memoryform foam; pretty much the same stuff used in Tempurpedic mattresses, you can use this rechargeable battery in nearly any device.
The way it works is simple:
- Charge the battery
- Squeeze it down to fit into any device size including; AAA, AA, C and even D!
- And just pop it into the device
Although I do see some potential problems with the concept design (like what happens when the foam expands?), overall this technological advance can be extremely useful and pragmatic.
Never get caught without the right battery again!
