Just like you probably had to kiss a lot of frogs to find your Prince Charming, you probably have to try on engagement rings (a lot of them) to find the perfect one for you. It’s a big decision to make, since you’ll be wearing this piece of jewelry for the rest of your life. Luckily, there’s an app for that! Are you really surprised?
Live Diamond Try On is a free iPhone app you can download to test out engagement rings without ever leaving the comfort of your own home. With this app, you can search Red Box Diamonds for a diamond with the perfect cut, clarity, color, and carat (size). From there, you can design a custom ring around this diamond using the metal and ring design that you like best. As you’re browsing options, you can see the actual size and view the ring from multiple angles.
The coolest part of this app is that you can take a picture of your hand with your iPhone and see what the ring will actually look like on your finger. It’s a great way to see if you actually like the ring before visiting the store to try it on. It’s also a perfect opportunity to try on, let’s say custom rings that you can’t try on at the store. When you’re designing a custom ring, you often have to commit to purchasing without trying on a sample, which can be pretty nerve-wracking! This is the next best thing.
Once you have your ring designed and are happy with how it looks on your finger, in conjunction with Google Maps, the app allows you to locate a retailer in your area where you can purchase the ring. The app also includes some diamond buying tips for those of you who might be new to purchasing jewelry and want to learn more about the C’s (cut, clarity, carats).
Even if you’re not thinking about getting engaged, Live Diamond Try On is a lot of fun. Heck, you don’t even need to have a significant other to enjoy this app. Go ahead and design that five-carat ring of your dreams and virtually try it on. I won’t judge you!
